Tinted lip balms, lip glosses, and lip oils are currently all the rage in lip makeup, offering a youthful, fresh, and polished look with their delicate color and glossy finish. In line with this trend, YSL Beauty has launched two exciting collections: the Loveshine Lip Oil Stick and the Candy Glow Tinted Lip Butter. Both offer sheer, glossy color, and intriguingly, some shades share the same names. So, what sets these two formulas apart? Having received several shades of each, Iโm here to share my thoughts on how they compare.
YSL Loveshine Lip Oil Stick
Available in an impressive 20 shades, YSL Loveshine Lip Oil Stick is a lipstick to oil hybrid that delivers the colour of a lipstick combined with the smooth, nourishing feel of an oil. Their melt-into-lips formula provides immediate hydration and smoothness, enhancing moisture levels over time. The finish resembles that of a lip oil but with slightly greater longevity a little more pigment we get from a typical lip oil.
Use of fig pulp in the formula makes it suitable for sensitive chapped lips while the custom blend of 6 nourishing oils provides smooth glide and moisturizing feel. Formula feels amazing on lips, very nourishing, lightweight and comfortable. Outer casing is silver tubes with ysl logo on pink base. there is a very soft and light fruity fig scent in formula which is not too strong but still needs to be noted for those who are sensitive to the scents in lip products.
I received the shades 150 Nude Lingerie and shade 44 Nude Lavalliere. Here is the unboxing and live swatches in a video in hopes you find them helpful to get a better sense of colour payoff and finish. It usually takes me about 3-4 swipes to build up the colour equivalent to the swatches.

YSL Candy Glow Tinted Lip Butter Balm
YSL Candy Glow Tinted Lip Butter Balm is a buttery smooth lip balm that provides soft shine and sheer flush of colour. Available in 6 shades, it is a lip balm and lip treatment in one. Formula on the lips feel comparatively thick still light weight and it stays on for longer than love shine lip oil stick.
Difference lies not only in colour pay off and finish but also in formula itself. Candy Glow gets its balmy, creamy texture from Shea butter while plumping and soothing qualities come from the Maracuja oil. These can also be used as lip primer though I haven’t myself tried them for this purpose. These butter balms feature PH adjusting pigments to reveal a custom colour for each person so in that sense the swatches of these many not be as helpful because they may sendup looking different on you than they look on my skin.
Outerbullet is a soft pinkish rose gold with the traditional YSL logo on a very soft pink base. It has the same light scent as Loveshine lip oil so same precaution for those allergic to the scent. I received three shades in it. 1B pink Sunrise, clear sheer pink, 3B Rosewood Blush and 44B Nude Lavalliere.
Again, here is a video of swatches and closeups of these butter balms to give you a more accurate sense of formula and intensity of pigment.
As you see Nude Lavalliere is the one shade I have in both formulas so here are the side by side comparison swatches. Isn’t it crazy how different it looks in both formulas on my skin? I am assuming the difference may be due to the fact that Candy Glow pigment may have changed after adjusting to my skin’s PH. It makes me curious how similar or different these may look on others.
