National Fragrance Day : Ten Scents of Rose
To celebrate National Fragrance Day, I’m excited to share this special edition of fragrances featuring exquisite rose notes. While this post highlights some from my collection, a few scents are missing simply because I’m currently out of them—but keep an eye on my blog, as more may make an appearance soon. Now, why rose, you ask? I believe rose is a note that can truly make or break a fragrance. When crafted thoughtfully, it has the power to bring all the unique notes together, creating a harmonious and memorable scent. However, when handled carelessly, it can easily overpower every other element in the fragrance. For the National Fragrance Day, I am going to share some fragrances in my collection that include Rose in their composition. In most of these, Rose is done beautifully but there is also one that is not for me.
Rose is one of the most versatile fragrance notes. The ten scents in this blog, each have distinct profiles, and at first glance you may not notice much similarity between them. However, they all share one common element—rose in the middle notes, except for Rose of No Man’s Land, which features rose in both the top and middle notes.
Some of these fragrances have detailed reviews on this blog However others I haven’t written about yet. Here, you’ll find a brief introduction to each one.
Maison Margiela Replicaa On A Date Eau de Toilette
This is a lovely fruity floral fragrance with a fresh opening. It starts with a hint of citrus, syrupy blackcurrant, and soft roses. The initial scent is a bit strong but not overwhelming. As it warms up on the skin and dries down, it becomes a really beautiful fragrance. The base notes of vetiver, patchouli, and musk add balance and depth to the overall scent. True to its name On A Date is a very suitable fragrance to wear on a date night. It can be purchased from Sephora , Nordstrom and Twisted Lily.
Atelier Des Ors Pink Me Up Eau De Parfum
Pink Me Up is a playful and radiant fragrance. My first impression right after spraying it on was a happy, joyful and fresh, fruity floral fragrance. It opens with a bright, fruity burst of bergamot and orange blossoms, enhanced by a playful, fizzy sparkle. The rose note takes center stage right from the start and remains prominent throughout, perfectly balanced by the fruity sweetness of blackberry and sparkling champagne accord. As it settles, the rose and champagne linger beautifully, joined by a powdery and earthy base of musk, iris, and patchouli. Montale Paris Beast Love Eau de Parfum
Montale Paris Beast Love intertwines the contrasting yet complimentary essence of strength and delicacy by mixing the ruggedness of black leather with tenderness of rose. First spray makes a bold statement with dominance of leather and Smokey accords, accompanied by subtle hints of rose lingering in the background. As the fragrance dries, initial intensity softens, revealing the fruity notes of plum and pear. To my nose it has a heavy opening that leans masculine and even though leather stays dominant, once fruity notes emerge the fragrance softens to a unisex scent that leans ever so slightly feminine . TUMI WHISPER Experience Collector Extrait De Parfum
Tumi Wisper draws its inspiration from the Kyoto Japan. The fragrance opens with a vibrant burst of rose notes, blended with hints of lychee and geranium, before settling into a lovely balance of florals, smoky amber, and subtle oud. Initially, I found it a bit too floral for my taste, but as it dried down, I appreciated the harmonious presence of woody notes. My impression right after the spray was just ok but I liked the dry down of Tumi Wisper. It is available at the So Avant Garde and Bloomingdale.
Byredo Rose of No. Man’s Land Eau de Parfum
Byredo Rose of No Man’s land is one of the very few predominantly rose fragrance that I love. It is a Rose fragrance through and through and still it the rose notes do not become overwhelming. Rose lets the notes of Pink pepper, raspberry, amber and Papyrus shine through instead of overpowering them. You can buy it from the Twisted Lily and Nordstrom
Veronique Gabai Noir De Mai Eau De Parfum
Noir De Mai is a beautiful woody floral fragrance with strong presence. It is a rose on woods fragrance where rose is beautifully balance by a soft citrus of mandarine and Bergamot. Amber. oak moss and woody notes in the base give dry down a very balanced profile. Veronique Gabai Noir De Mai is available at Bloomingdales
Banana Republic Collezione Riservata Monday Rose Extrait de Parfum
If you love strong florals or fragrances where rose dominates the entire composition, Banana Republic Monday Rose might be a great fit for you. While there are some fruity and woody notes listed, on my skin, the rose completely takes over—similar to Caudalie Rose de Vigne hand & nail cream. It’s not a bad fragrance, but it doesn’t align with my preference for fruity florals. ROJA Amber Aoud Parfum
ROJA Amber Aoud is a rich and complex scent. this fragrance is anything but straightforward. With everything from citrus and floral to spicy and woody notes, I couldn’t help but wonder how all these elements would come together. Would it be a clash of scents, or would Roja manage to weave them into a smooth, sophisticated composition? As it turns out, it’s the latter. Maison Du Roc Ylang D’Or Extrait de Parfum
Maison Du Roc Ylang d’Or starts with a bold, spicy kick—Sichuan, Timur, and pink peppers create an energetic opening that grabs your attention. As it settles, the fragrance softens into a rich floral heart, featuring Ylang-Ylang, Tuberose, and Jasmine. Mind Games French Defense Extrait de Parfum
French Defense has a refined floral heart, with geranium and rose adding depth without overpowering the cherry notes. As it dries down, the scent becomes warmer and smoother with an ambery, woody base.
