Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Tiger Lily EDP: A new twist

Victor & Rolf Flowerbomb Tiger Lily isn’t exactly a new release. But it’s the latest addition to the Flowerbomb line that I’ve finally gotten around to trying. Yes, it’s considered a summer fragrance. Still, I wear scents based on my mood, not the season. So nothing stopped me from opening this bottle in the middle of a freezing Toronto winter.

Flowerbomb Tiger Lily is a white floral fragrance, encased in the classic Flowerbomb hand grenade bottle. This time in a deep orange colour. A reference to its namesake, the tiger lily flower. Anyone who likes the white florals, you will love it from the get go, but those choosing it for the tropical notes may need to wait a while for them to come through.

Key Notes

Top Notes: Coconut Milk , Bergamot

Middle Notes: Tiger Lily, Jasmine, Freesia

Base Notes: Mango, Benzoin

The opening feels a little sharp, a little sweet, with a light hint of citrus and lots of tiger lily. On my skin, I don’t get a clear coconut milk note but there is a soft creamy sweetness that suggests it’s there. In the floral heart, tiger lily clearly takes the lead, with jasmine close behind. Freesia however barely shows up for my nose. I was really hoping for more tropical mango in the base, but that didn’t quite happen. Only after two to three hours on my skin did I start to notice a touch of mango, and even then it stayed very subtle and faint.

The projection is solid and it stays noticeable on my skin for about two hours. Then it slowly quiets down, becoming more intimate around four hours in. By six hours, it has nearly disappeared. Even though it wasn’t what I expected based on the note breakdown, I still find it quite lovely. It’s a true white floral, and Flowerbomb Tiger Lily feels like a fitting name.
