Estée Lauder Glimmer: A New Chapter in Estée Lauder Fragrance
Even though I prefer unisex fragrances on most days, there is something very charming and alluring about a feminine fragrance. Maybe it is the delicate, shimmering bottle or the sparkling raspberry milkshake opening, but Estée Lauder Glimmer EDP has captured my attention for longer than I was expecting it to.
Estée Lauder Glimmer EDP is the beginning of a new fragrance pillar for the house, with a new and unique DNA that is independent of its existing fragrance lines. With Glimmer, the brand is taking things in a new direction, focusing on joy, optimism, connection, and those little moments that can make an ordinary day feel a little brighter. Looking at the brand’s history, there is a good chance that we will see more flankers following Glimmer’s core DNA, but for now, let’s focus on the fragrance that started it all and see what Glimmer has to offer.

Glimmer is an oriental floral fragrance featuring delicious notes that unfold from a sparkling fruity opening to a soft floral heart and a warm, creamy base:

Glimmer opens with a sparkling raspberry milkshake, with a little tartness from the orange that keeps it from becoming too sweet. My first impression was that it smelled like many other fruity florals, so I wasn’t expecting it to surprise me much. But the dry down changed my mind.
As the opening settles, sweet macarons, creamy vanilla and a soft, very soft rose start to come through. They tone down that initial milky burst and give the fragrance a much more comforting feel. The gourmand side is noticeable, but it doesn’t turn into a sugary scent. There is also quite a rich mix of base notes underneath, with patchouli, amber, sandalwood, cedarwood and tonka bean, but they stay in the background and add depth to the creamy floral heart.
I really like the way Glimmer develops on my skin. It starts bright, fruity and a little playful, then gradually becomes softer, creamier and more comforting. The first few minutes didn’t make me think there was anything especially different about it, but the dry down is where I started to understand its appeal.
It has great projection, though not the kind that attacks your senses mindlessly. After almost two hours of strong projection, it settles closer to the skin and stays there for the rest of the day, giving me about 6–7 hours of wear on my skin.
