Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Pretty Peony EDP Review
Continuing with the summer fragrances, the next one on my desk is Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Pretty Peony. It took me some time to get around to writing about it, but I am glad I waited. It took about a month for this fragrance to really grow on me and, more importantly, for me to clearly distinguish it from the original Flowerbomb.
Pretty Peony is a beautiful, simple, straightforward feminine fragrance that is easy to enjoy in warmer weather. It is a fruity floral that leans sweet without becoming cloying.

When I first opened it, my initial thought was that it was a nice floral that shared some DNA with the original Flowerbomb. It wasn’t until about a month later, when I revisited it, that I really started to appreciate it. This time, I was greeted by a beautiful juicy strawberry opening that gradually leads into the peony heart.
To my nose, both the strawberry and peony appear almost immediately and remain noticeable for quite a few hours.

Key Notes
Top: Strawberry
Middle: Peony
Base: Vanilla, Musk

It has great projection and moderate longevity. After about 3โ4 hours, the dry down starts to feel a lot like the original Flowerbomb, though not exactly the same. It still retains some of that strawberry sweetness, but at this stage it sits very close to the original.
The fuchsia bottle, presented in the signature Flowerbomb grenade design, is quite eye-catching and complements the sweet, feminine character of the fragrance.

Overall, it is a very simple, uncomplicated composition with relatively few notes, and each one gets a chance to stand out. I can detect a soft sweet vanilla and a hint of amber in the dry down, but they do not take away from the fruity floral character of Pretty Peony.
I believe it was released last year and, for all I know, Viktor&Rolf may already be planning another flanker in this line.

I actually rediscovered the original Flowerbomb recently, so I will be sharing a little more about it in the coming weeks. That fragrance remains an icon and, somehow, always seems to stay relevant.
